Soil texture is important. The best soil on the planet for plants is a loam (a fertile soil of clay and sand containing humus.) to sandy loam. How do you get that?
Pure sand soils need organic matter in order to be able to hold moisture. These can be added with the Sides Spread-All Spreader! The Sides Spreader can broadcast things like Black Wonder 5000 (check out this video) to improve the moisture retention of soils that are too sandy. Clay soils need sand and organics.
Mix these together in the Sides Spreader and add to your soil. Anything added needs to be mixed in the top 8 inches. I prefer to use a rotavator for this. Any soil can be improved using the Sides Spreader and rotavator. Take a soil test. Ask for texture analysis as well as nutrient needs. Put all things recommended out with the Sides Spreader and mix them in.
Happy spreading and growing!
